Three fat loss myths that we can all agree to leave dead and buried

OperationMove · January 12, 2022 · Leave a Comment

You can thank all the crappy facebook ads I see for this episode of the podcast

The ads that really irritate me are the running specific ones, but there are loads of them out there for all kinds of training and all kinds of diets and they are just as bad. Selling you something that sounds too good to be true, because it is. In this episode I’m talking about:
  • Three really common (and persistent myths)
  • The risk to your mental health during periods of fat-loss if your self-talk isn’t where it needs to be
  • What to set up for yourself that is sustainable, but also isn’t totally dependent on one metric or one number

Podcast: Episode 83 – Things that are not running that can dramatically improve your running

Zoey · August 10, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Let’s talk about things that are not running that might be stopping your running from improving

This week in the podcast, I’m talking about all the things that sit around your running that can have a huge impact on your running

  • On sleep: making the most of your own sleep pattern, rather than forcing yourself to get up early
  • On nutrition: making small tweaks that can force you to get all your micronutrients as well as your macros and making that mindset shift to eating for performance
  • Experimenting with cold exposure for improved immunity: YES. I’ve been having cold showers.
  • Mobility: I’ve been using the GOWOD Mobility First app for three weeks and I talk about what I’m loving it for.

Podcast: Episode 78 – Race prepping like a champ for a great run

Zoey · June 23, 2018 · Leave a Comment

It can be easy to think that once you hit taper time all the work has been done, and that’s mostly true. But there’s a whole lot you can do in the last week to make sure you get to the start line well rested, well fuelled, with your mindset in the right place and ready to go.

This week I talk about:

  • What to stop doing the week before your race
  • How to avoid the dreaded taper sickness
  • What to eat and drink in the lead up; and
  • How to calm your nerves to get your head in the right place.

Podcast: Episode 73 – How to maintain good training and nutrition habits away from home

Zoey · May 17, 2018 · Leave a Comment

It’s so easy to get out of the swing of things when you are away from home and then it seems like more of an effort to get back into it when you return, doesn’t it? This week I’m talking about some things you can do to keep your habits ticking along when you are away from home: whether it’s a running event, a holiday or you are travelling for work.

I have a bit of an addictive personality, I think so it’s been really easy for me to see trips away in the past as a perfect reason to completely abandon anything I would normally do with my nutrition. But you know what? I choose those things with nutrition because they make me feel good, so it never works out as well as you’d think!

I recorded this just before heading down to Ultra Trail Australia and I talked through some of what I planned to do to make sure I stay on track, but also make sure it doesn’t take away from the experience either!

Learn to Run starts on the 15th October so don’t miss out!
