As the weather starts to shift, so does the motivation and determination that had us all kicking goals in January.
April is that wonderful month where the last of the sunny shiny days are like a blessing, but the cooler mornings and evenings are perfect for getting outdoors and moving without the heat.
It is also the month that many people need a bit more of a nudge to keep moving. Where positive support and community may have been enough so far, April is the time to give yourself a kick in the butt and remember the commitment you made back at the start of the year.
Maybe it is also the time that you need someone else to remind you, so here we are.
Moving more is beneficial all year round, and training in cooler weather has lots of benefits, not least of which is that for those of us who run the chill in the air can be impetus to run a little faster.
Whether you started out well and fell off the wagon a while back, or you’ve maintained a steady commitment to moving throughout 2014 so far, a new month is a new chance to refocus on what you want to achieve.
It’s April already, what are you going to do with it?

I’m about to start Week 3 of the Couch to 5K and I want to make it to at least the end of Week 5 by the end of April. If I manage to get out 3 times a week I should be able to do more but I’m keeping it achievable for the moment 🙂
With school holidays taking up a lot of April I’m going to just try and get out there as much as I can. I won’t be walking to school every day so will have to make sure I still walk and hopefully I can fit in a few more runs. Will have to run off the Easter chocolate 😉
My year so far has been very average… well we bought a house so brilliant that way but not so good on the moving for fitness front. I intend April to be my “getting back into it” month. Starting off with a week of relaxing and nurturing – walking if I want but no pressure. Then starting back into my 3x a week minimum of walking. I think running is still going to be at least a month off (I was hoping but ankle is still niggly). I think the cooler weather will be good for me moving wise because the humidity is a killer for me.
